Obama's gift-giving gets more thoughtful

After essentially snubbing the Brits, Boy Blunder actually takes some time to come up with appropriate gifts for foreign heads of state. And what could be more touching to Hugo Chavez than a book about how the U.S. has exploited Latin America.
At President Obama's meeting with the heads of South American countries this morning, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez stood, walked over to him, and presented him with a copy of "Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent" by Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano.

Obama politely posed for a photograph with Chavez, shook his hand, and accepted the gift.

The book, first published in Spanish in 1971, offers a critique of the consequences of 500 years of European and U.S. colonization of Latin America.

Not content to denigrate America in Europe PrezBO has decided to extend this to a world tour. Nuance!!!

Good catch. I need to focus a little better when reading these things so apologies for some loose shit on my part. I guess I am guilty of what the liberal media usually does.

Such a story (as incorrectly read by me)fit my preconceived notion of what must be true so I ran with it.

But would anyone be truly surprised if this were true?? As the NYT says, "fake but accurate".

  3. Can't believe an actual apology! Shows that you care about getting the proper info out. Even though the gift was given TO Obama he looked like a complete stooge, used by Chavez for his own propaganda purposes. Just think, an American president is stupid enough to be used in such a fashion.
