House Democrats on Thursday defeated a Republican push to investigate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's claims that the CIA misled her in 2002 about whether waterboarding had been used against terrorism suspects.
The House voted 252-172 to block the measure that would have created a bipartisan congressional panel. Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, sponsored the resolution.
Democrats have always had a fondness for Congressional investigations. For eight years they called for investigating everything under the sun. They still call for "truth commissions" as well as probing every business sector that makes a profit.
And now the Speaker has accused the CIA (always a target of the left) of serial criminality and the House has no interest in investigating. Hmmm.
So Pelosi is probably pissed that her dem colleagues won't back her up, right?? Eh, not so much:
"This is partisan politics and an attempt by the Republicans to distract from the real issue of creating jobs and making progress on health care, energy and education," said Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami.
Or maybe, just maybe, they are of the same opinion as everyone else; that SanFran Nan's accusations are a pant load.
